Bette has attended Hillcrest for the past 36 years. Born and raised in Juneau, Alaska, she moved to Anchorage in 1968 to attend the University of Alaska Anchorage (formerly Anchorage Community College). She was attending another evangelical church in the city until a friend invited her to Hillcrest with the express purpose of meeting one of the Morris boys. She and her husband, Dennis, have two grown children. They are proud grandparents who thoroughly enjoy both of the families living in close proximity so they are able to spend time with and spoil the grandchildren a little bit.
Since she started attending Hillcrest, Bette has always been involved in some aspect of music or education ministry within the church. For the last 15 years she has been our primary Worship Leader and Chairperson of the Worship Committee. Through a passion to see the congregation become more engaged in heart-felt worship, she has helped transition our music style from traditional to a blend of traditional with more contemporary songs included. One of her many highlights in leading worship at Hillcrest is the great depth of musical abilities within the church and the eagerness and obedience of the people to use their talents to further the Lord’s work.
